Each year, a selection committee of Arvest Bank associates chooses up to three charities that share 100 percent of the proceeds from the golf tournament. Non-profit organizations in Baxter, Boone and Marion Counties in Arkansas, and Howell County, Missouri, are encouraged to apply for consideration as a charity of the year.
Tiffany Watkins, assistant vice president and marketing director for Arvest Bank in North Central Arkansas, says during the past two decades, communities in this area have come together to support countless local organizations whose work in our towns is incredibly important, yet not always adequately funded. Watkins says Arvest Bank officials are hoping for another great turnout this year so they can show strong support for these non-profits and have some fun with friends and neighbors here in North Central Arkansas.
Final selection as a charity of the year is based on past, present and future financial needs, along with other criteria. To qualify, the charity must be designated as an IRS 501(c)(3) organization and must submit a letter to the committee explaining why their organization should be selected.
Watkins says this event continues to grow. Arvest Bank is exceeding annual donation records and have contributed more than $168,000 to local charities since the tournament was created.
Applications for consideration as a 2017 Charity of the Year should be mailed to: Arvest Bank Charity Committee, Attn: Tiffany Watkins, P.O. Box 325, Yellville, AR, 72687, or they may be emailed to twatkins@arvest.com <mailto:twatkins@arvest.com>.
