Thursday’s state tournament results

The Class 1A State Softball Tournament played its second round Thursday at Pine Bluff Regional Park.
Calico Rock was able to dominate its first game in the tournament. The Lady Pirates shut out South Side-Bee Branch 7-0.
Izard County watched its season come to an end. The Lady Cougars fell to Concord by a final of 11-1.
Omaha was also bounced from the tournament. The Lady Eagles lost to Taylor 23-0.

Salem was one and done in the Class 2A State Tournament at East Poinsett County High School in Lepanto. The Lady Greyhounds were edged out by Pangburn 6-5.

Melbourne was eliminated from the opening round of the Class 3A State Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. The Lady Bearkatz lost to Bald Knob 11-0.

In baseball, three area teams were in action Thursday in the Class 1A State Tournament.
Viola was able to advance to the quarterfinals. The Longhorns were able to blank Concord 7-0 at Woodlawn High School in Rison.
Dierks will be Viola’s next opponent in the tournament. Omaha fell to the Outlaws by a score of 17-0.
Lead Hill was bounced from the tournament after its first game. The Tigers were doubled up by Mount Vernon-Enola 14-7.

Harrison lost its opener in the Class 5A State Tournament at Dupree Park in Jacksonville. The Goblins lost to Greene County Tech 7-4.

The Harrison girls’ soccer team won its first game in the Class 5A State Tournament at Nettleton High School in Jonesboro. The Lady Goblins shut out the Lady Raiders 5-0.
