As one local school district hires a new coach, another district begins a search for a new one. Salem High School boys’ basketball coach Blake Hanney is leaving the Greyhounds’ program for the same position at Valley Springs.
Hanney’s move to lead the Tigers will be his third job in the coaching field. Prior to his lone year at Salem, he served as the head junior high boys’ coach and the assistant senior high boys’ coach at Waldron.
Hanney says he is excited to inherit a Valley Springs program with a history of success.

Salem School District Superintendent Wayne Guiltner says the district will post the job opening online at the Arkansas Activities Associaton’s website and on SchoolSpring, a website partnering with the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators. Guiltner says the district is looking to fill the position before classes begin in August.
