
The sale of tax delinquent property in Baxter County on Tuesday afternoon kicks off a second week of similar auctions in North Central Arkansas. Auctions are scheduled in Fulton County on Wednesday, August 30 and Izard County on Thursday, August 31.Arkansas Land Commissioner John Thurston says the auction involves real property of land and homes as a result of owners not having paid taxes on these properties.

If the Office of the Land Commissioner is unsuccessful in its efforts after the two-year period, the property becomes eligible for auction.
Commissioner Thurston says returning the property to tax generating status is important to public schools.

Commissioner Thurston says the original property owner still has 10 business days after the auction transactions to pay the delinquent taxes and reclaim the land or house.
The Baxter County auction of tax delinquent land is set for Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 in the Donald W. Reynolds Library serving Baxter County in the Knox Rooms A and B.
While in Baxter County promoting the upcoming auction, Commissioner Thurston presented county officials with a check for $274,846 in turnback funds.
