Baxter County Sheriff’s office reports calm holiday weekend

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Department Deputies experienced a relatively calm and uneventful Labor Day holiday weekend this year, according to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery. There were no serious incidents reported to the Sheriff’s Office over the weekend.There were 111 complaint calls or calls for service made to the Sheriff’s Office from Friday through Monday. A total of 26 bookings were made at the Baxter County Detention Center by all law enforcement agencies during this time covering 47 separate charges.

One person was charged with driving while intoxicated, one charged for boating while intoxicated and one minor was charged for being in possession of alcohol.

Four were arrested for possession of drugs or drug paraphernalia.

There were also six domestic violence related charges and six warrants served.

Several of those booked into the Detention Center had multiple charges.

Deputies also issued five citations for traffic violations or criminal misdemeanors and five Warnings for traffic violations.

Montgomery says all area campgrounds and resorts appeared to be occupied at or near capacity. The Sheriff’s Office worked jointly with U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Park Rangers in patrolling public campgrounds and public use areas on Norfork Lake and Bull Shoals Lake.
