SOFA Entertainment/UMeA series of DVDs featuring upgraded high-def video footage of classic Ed Sullivan Show performances by some legendary artists — Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Supremes and The Temptations — will be released on May 25.
Three of the DVD collections are focused on Presley. The 3 Complete Ed Sullivan Shows Starring Elvis Presley is a two-DVD set that gathers together the three full episodes of the long-running variety program on which the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll appeared. Just Elvis: All His Ed Sullivan Show Performances is a single-disc release featuring all of Presley’s performances on the show, including his infamous 1957 Sullivan visit, when he was only showed from his waist up as he performed. Elvis: The Great Performances is a two-DVD set containing three previously released documentaries that include footage of Presley’s Sullivan Show appearances, as well as clips from performances in various films and other TV shows.
Meanwhile, three other DVD collections are three previously released titles that have been upgraded from standard to high definition. The 4 Complete Ed Sullivan Shows Starring The Beatles is a two-DVD set featuring the four entire programs on which the Fab Four hit the Sullivan stage. The Best of The Supremes on The Ed Sullivan Show boasts 22 performances by the famed Motown trio, spanning from their 1964 debut visit through their final appearance in 1970. The Best of The Temptations on The Ed Sullivan Show features a variety of memorable performances by the Motown quintet spanning from 1967 to 1971.
