
Credit: Mo SummersPolice guitarist Andy Summers has joined the lineup of Play It Forward!, a benefit concert scheduled for April 20 in Santa Rosa, California, that will help musicians affected by the recent wildfires in Northern California.
The show, which is being presented by Guitar Player magazine, also will include performances by Tracii Guns of L.A. Guns, one-time Michael Jackson touring guitarist Jennifer Batten and a variety of other respected musicians.
The event, which will take place at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, also will feature an auction of guitars autographed by Toto‘s Steve Lukather, Steve Vai, Alice Cooper guitarist Nita Strauss and others.
In conjunction with the benefit, Guitar Player will be giving away guitars to musicians who lost instruments in the fires. To find out more about the guitar giveaway, visit GuitarPlayer.com.
Part of the proceeds raised by the event will be donated to the Creative Sonoma Recovery Fund and the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts.
In other news, a new exhibit of photographs taken by Summers called “The Bones of Chuang Tzu” will open this Monday, April 16, at The Gallery at Leica Store in San Francisco. Andy will make an appearance at an artist’s reception held at the gallery on Wednesday, April 18, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. PT. The exhibit will feature photos evoking various aspects of Chinese culture that will be featured a book of the same name slated for publication later this year.
Meanwhile, Summers has two other performances on his schedule, this Saturday, April 14, at The Regent Theater and on Thursday, April 19, at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. Both shows also will include a Q&A and a multimedia presentation featuring some of the photos from his exhibit and book.
