The subject of a nationwide warrant out of Missouri, 28-year-old Josiah Stockard of House Springs, Missouri, has been arrested in Searcy County.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday, an Arkansas State Police trooper initiated a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon on U.S. Highway 65. The stop was initiated after the officer observed the vehicle with California tags had a cracked windshield directly in the line of sight of the driver.
After attempting to initiate the stop, the vehicle traveled about a half mile north before eventually stopping. During this time, the driver was observed making unusual movements, including moving his arms around and reaching down and to the right.
The driver was unable to provide any identification and twice provided names and dates of birth that did not provide returns from dispatch.
During a search of Stockard, a small plastic bag containing a powdery substance field testing positive for methamphetamine was found in the front pocket of his jeans.
During an inventory of the vehicle, a piece of paper was located with Stockard’s name on it, allowing the officer to identify the Missouri man and learn he was wanted on the nationwide warrant.
The search also produced additional meth and drug paraphernalia.
Upon further investigation of the vehicle, the trooper observed the front driver’s side tire had the wires showing through the tread, the passenger’s side mirror missing and the license plate expired in October 2018.
Stockard has been charged with felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition, he faces misdemeanor charges of defective tires, obstructing governmental operations, unsafe vehicle with defective equipment and driving a vehicle with tags expired.
The amount of his bond was not available on online court documents.
