The Cotter Junior High basketball teams both advanced to the championship games of the 2A-1 Junior District Tournament at Decatur Thursday night.
The Junior Lady Warriors were 43-19 winners over Eureka Springs. Kate Cheek led the way with 15 points and Morgan Zick scored 9. The Cotter junior girls will face Flippin in the championship game.
The Cotter junior boys defeated Flippin 34-16 in the semifinals. Hayden Hutson scored 13 and Jeffry Haynes added 9 points.
The Izard County junior teams split their games at the 1A-2 Junior District Tournament at Omaha.
The Junior Cougars upset top seeded Calico Rock 49-42 to move into the title game. Gunner Gleghorn pumped in 28 points as the Junior Cougars improve to 16-7 on the season.
The Izard County junior girls had their season ended with a 36-32 loss to top seeded Viola. Allison Newman paced the Junior Lady Cougars with 17 points.
