Credit: Christian LantryAl Green is mounting his first U.S. tour in more than seven years this spring, and the soul/R&B legend has just added three new concerts to the trek — in the three biggest cities in the country.
The new shows will take place on May 5 in New York City, May 7 in Chicago and May 9 in Los Angeles. Tickets for the concerts will go on sale to the general public this Friday, February 22, at 10 a.m. local time.
Pre-sale tickets also will be available for the New York and Chicago dates starting Wednesday, February 20, at 12 p.m. and 10 a.m. local time, respectively.
Green’s 2019 tour gets underway on April 24 in Austin, Texas, and also includes an April 28 appearance at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, as well as stops in Irving, Texas; Sugar Land, Texas; and Atlanta.
Green was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004. In 2014, he was among the recipients of the Kennedy Center Honors.
Last September, Al released his first single in nearly a decade, a cover of the 1975 Freddie Fender hit “Before the Next Teardrop Falls.”
