
The Mountain Home High School basketball teams wrapped up their final road trip of the regular season on a good note as they picked up a sweep at Searcy. Matt Sharp has the details.

The Lady Bombers began by clinching a berth in the Class 5A State Tournament as they routed the Lady Lions 61-23. Mountain Home dominated the game from start to end. The Lady Bombers held Searcy to just nine first half points, and the mercy rule was invoked the moment the fourth quarter began.
Leah Jackson led Mountain Home with 12 points, and Anna Grace Foreman added 11. For the Lady Lions, Ta’Lor Branch scored 11 points.
The Lady Bombers improve to 16-10 on the season and 8-5 in the 5A-East, and they are tied for third in the league. Searcy falls to 4-22 and 0-13.
Mountain Home’s boys followed up by defeating the Lions 66-58. The first half was back and forth with six lead changes and a tie, and the Bombers were up one at the break. Mountain Home pulled away for a few double digit leads in the second half. Searcy cut the margin back to two, but they would get no closer as the Bombers went on to win by eight.
Mountain Home was led by Mat Jones with 20 points, and Wyatt Gilbert chipped in 19. Trystan Alcorn had 16 points for the Lions, Freddy Hicks finished with 14, and Peyton Caldwell ended up with ten.
The Bombers are now 9-16 overall and 4-9 in the conference. Searcy drops to 9-17 and 2-11.
Mountain Home will wrap up the regular season Friday as they host West Memphis for Senior Night.
In other 5A-East boys’ action, Nettleton got past Jonesboro 49-45, Marion pounded Paragould 69-28, and West Memphis topped Greene County Tech 64-52.
In the girls’ games, Jonesboro upset Nettleton 52-46, Paragould beat Marion 43-39, and West Memphis was a 60-49 winner over Tech.
