For the second time in less than a week Fulton County authorities have arrested the same man, 27-year-old Alexander “Blake” Rouse. Rouse has now been charged with felony forgery.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday, Rouse, whose last address was in Hardy according to court records, was arrested and charged after he allegedly cashed a fake $100 bill at a Salem café Thursday.
The compliant told law enforcement an employee working the cash register when the exchange occurred is allegedly the girlfriend of Rouse’s brother.
Video footage shows the cashier appearing to smile at Rouse and looking at the $100 bill several times before placing it in the register and handing him several bills in return.
While the business’ policy is for all large bills to be checked with a marker able to detect counterfeit money, the procedure was not followed in this instance.
The fake bill was reportedly obviously counterfeit, had been torn in half, taped together and written on with a black marker covering what appeared to be Chinese writing.
Rouse reportedly told officers he obtained the money for work he performed for an individual in Ash Flat and was not aware it was fake.
His bond on the felony charge of forgery was set at $2,500.
Less than a week before the alleged forgery incident, Rouse was arrested and charged in connection with the reported theft of a four wheeler valued at approximately $10,000. He was charged with felony theft of property.
