MH baseball team gets victory over Providence Academy

The Mountain Home High School baseball team went into spring break on a winning note Saturday at McClain Park. The Bombers picked up a 10-4 victory as they hosted Providence Academy from Rogers.

The Big Cat Classic was hosted by Yellville-Summit Saturday at Yellville City Park.
Cotter’s baseball team suffered a 16-0 loss at the hands of Izard County. Matthew Workman picked up the win as he pitched all three innings and struck out three batters. Noah Everett led the Cougar offense with two hits, three runs and three RBIs, and Dylan Tharp added two hits, scored three runs and drove in two more.
Yellville-Summit also had a good win in the early going. The Panthers defeated Lead Hill by a final of 18-3.
Yellville-Summit ended up falling to eventual champion Izard County 11-1. Gunner Gleghorn was the winning pitcher with 3 1/3 innings and one run. Chase Orf, who pitched the final 2 2/3 innings for the Cougars, also provided plenty of offense with four hits, three runs and two RBIs. Also for Izard County, Tharp had three hits and scored two runs. The Cougars remain unbeaten in four games on the season.
On the softball side, Cotter got underway by improving on its season. The Lady Warriors first beat Mammoth Spring 15-0.
Yellville-Summit also had a shut out victory in its opening game. The host Lady Panthers topped Ozark Mountain 17-0.
Cotter later took the softball title of the tournament. The Lady Warriors grabbed the 18-4 win over Yellville-Summit.
Ozark Mountain lost its last game of the tournament to Mammoth Spring by a score of 21-0. The Lady Bears’ record is now 2-3.

Salem’s softball team won the White Division of the Bearcat Blast Tournament at Jonesboro. The Lady Greyhounds began Saturday by routing Hazen 18-4. Salem later beat Walnut Ridge 7-4 in the semifinals and picked up the title with a 6-1 victory over Gosnell.

Salem’s baseball team did not fare as well as they wrapped up play in the Ozark Baseball Classic at Harrison. The Greyhounds started the day with an 8-5 loss to Jonesboro Westside, and they later suffered a 9-3 defeat to Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
