Kenny Loggins launches a three-show Las Vegas engagement next week at Wynn resort and casino’s Encore Theater. The concerts, which take place March 27, 29 and 30, will feature the pop-rock great playing songs from all eras of his long career, while also sharing stories accompanied by a multimedia presentation.
Regarding his Vegas performances, Loggins tells ABC Radio, “I’m taking the residency very seriously, and I want to put together a special show. I’ve been, for the last couple years…talking [onstage]…When I get the right audience at the right atmosphere, I can tell stories about where I was when the songs were written.”
As you’d expect, Kenny’s set will include classics from his partnership with Jim Messina, some of his late ’70s solo hits and, of course, his hugely popular soundtrack contributions to such films as Footloose, Caddyshack and Top Gun.
Loggins previously played a three-show stand at the Encore Theater last September, but he tells ABC Radio the new performances will be a little different.
“I’m just adding more pictures from different periods of my life that’ll go along with the stories that I’ve got,” he explains. “And I’m gonna add a Loggins & Messina story, and anything else I think of as I go.”
Kenny says it’s hard to pick a favorite part of his career from which to perform songs.
“I’m happy to say that I’m not embarrassed by any period of my career,” he declares. “I’m proud of the Loggins & Messina era…[o]n into [my first solo album,] Celebrate Me Home…And then into the movie years in the ’80s, which is always fun to do, ’cause that’s when people get up and dance.”
