A father and son from Blytheville both pled no contest to drug-related charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.
They faced the same charges, were given identical five years of probation, and their sentences were imposed under provisions of Act 346, the first offenders law. Act 346 allows people who have no problems with the law while on probation to apply to the court to have their record sealed.
Fifty-six-year-old Kevin Sayre and his son, 29-year-old Justin Wade Sayre, were arrested along with others during a May 18, 2018 raid on an apartment located along South Main Street in Mountain Home.
A search warrant was served on the address, after information was received of occupants of the residence were selling narcotics.
Officers reported smelling the “strong odor” of marijuana when they entered the apartment. They also said they saw containers holding marijuana, digital scales, plastic bags, smoking pipes and other types of drug paraphernalia.
A large glass jar in the living room held eight bags containing suspected marijuana. A safe was found in an open closet containing another two bags of marijuana weighing one-half pound each and a handgun.
Almost $2,200 in currency was found and seized.
