The Mountain Home High School chapter of the Interact Club has donated over 250 coats to area school children and young adults.

Interact is an international organization affiliated with Rotary Clubs throughout the world. The 34-member club at MHHS is sponsored by the Mountain Home Rotary Club, with teacher Ryder Pierce as its high school sponsor.

Rotarian Larry Nelson was asked to speak to the students about the importance and enjoyment of volunteerism. On the morning when there was a wind chill of minus 5 degrees, Nelson thanked them for their work on the coat drive and told them, “There are children today who went to school in warm coats – children you’ll never know and who won’t be able to thank you personally. But you’ll know the good deed you did on their behalf. That’s what volunteerism means to you and your community.”
