Credit: Suzie KaplanThe Stray Cats recently announced plans for a 40th anniversary reunion tour that includes a run of U.S. dates in August, and now frontman Brian Setzer has lined a bunch of solo shows that same month.
The latest installment of Setzer’s “Rockabilly Riot!” tour features 11 concerts running from an August 5 performance in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, through an August 30 show in Henderson, Nevada. All of the dates take place on off nights during the Stray Cats trek, which kicks off August 3 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and winds down on August 31 in San Diego.
Tickets to most shows on the “Rockabilly Riot!” tour go on sale to the general public this Friday, March 29, at 10 a.m. local time. Members of Brian’s fan club will be able to buy pre-sale tickets for select dates beginning Tuesday, March 26, at 10 a.m. local time, while a local pre-sale for some shows starts Thursday, March 28, at 10 a.m. Visit BrianSetzer.com for more details.
Setzer’s solo band features drummer Noah Levy, pianist/guitarist Kevin McKendree and bassist Mark Winchester. Brian’s “Rockabilly Riot!” sets showcase songs from throughout his long career, including Stray Cats classics and solo material.
“When you look up rockabilly in the dictionary there is a picture of Mark Winchester,” Setzer declares. “Noah Levy is a very on-the-beat solid drummer…And when you’re talking about the great rockabilly piano players, it’s a very short list, and Kevin McKendree is on it. And he also plays guitar incredibly well. We all just complement each other.”
As previously reported, The Stray Cats also will celebrate their 40th anniversary this year by releasing their first new studio album in 26 years, 40, on May 24.
