ABC/Craig SjodinIf watching Lionel Richie every week on American Idol is making you longing to see him dance on the ceiling in real life, you’re in luck.
The legendary singer will kick off a trek called the Hello tour May 28 in Sugar Land, TX. The hit-packed show will wrap up August 30 in St. Paul, MN. All tickets purchased online for the tour will include a CD copy of a new album called Live from Las Vegas. Set for release August 23, the album was recorded at Zappos Theater at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino during Lionel’s Vegas residency show.
The album comes in either standard or deluxe editions. The deluxe edition adds a medley of Commodores hits: “Fancy Dancer,” “Sweet Love,” and “Lady (You Bring Me Up).” There’s also a Target edition, which includes three songs not found on the standard edition: “Penny Lover,” “Running with the Night,” and “Just to Be Close.”
“I am so excited to bring my Live from Las Vegas album to life and to share it with my fans. Also, I’m really looking forward to going on tour and performing for everyone this summer – it’s going to be one big party,” says Lionel in a statement.
Tickets for most of the tour dates go on sale this Friday, March 29 at 10 a.m. local time via Lionelrichie.com/shows/. Citi cardmembers can purchase pre-sale tickets starting Tuesday at 10 a.m. local time. Some shows have different on-sale dates and times; check online for full details.
