Many women may have heard of the Junior League. In Mountain Home, there is a smaller version known as the Junior Auxiliary, and it’s primarily a “southern thing.”
The Junior Auxiliary is made up of 98 chapters in several southern states, which encourages women to be active and constructive community participants, to take on leadership roles, and to help meet needs in their communities. JA was founded on the principles of helping children and making a difference in their lives, and the chapter in Mountain Home is no exception.
Local chapter members Shayna Foster and Kapra Stufflebeam were recent guests on KTLO’s Talk of the Town, speaking about the fundraisers they host each year. This year they’ve added a Casino Night to the list, which will include several different games, heavy hors d’oeuvres, music, and special prizes.

Those service projects include Dr. Suess Week, which is always a big hit with students in the Baxter County schools.

Junior Auxiliary also hosts the annual Easter egg hunt at Cooper Park, which is coming up next month.

Junior Auxiliary prepared over twelve thousand eggs last year, which contained prizes and age appropriate treats.
Another huge event that JA hosts in November is the annual Frosty Festival. This year marks the Frosty Festival’s 15th year, and it is one of the premier shopping events of the holiday season. The Frosty Festival will be held at the Sheid on the Arkansas State University-Mountain Home campus and brings in local vendors, service providers and a visit from Santa Claus.
