Credit: Gottlieb Bros.Yes will headline a new North American package trek dubbed The Royal Affair Tour, which will also feature sets by Asia, Moody Blues singer/bassist John Lodge and Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy with guest vocalist Arthur Brown.
The outing kicks off on June 12 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and is mapped out through a July 28 performance in Saratoga, California. More shows will be announced soon. Tickets for most concerts go on sale this Friday, April 5.
Yes will be playing songs spanning the band’s half-century career, and will include tributes to their two late founding members: bassist Chris Squire and guitarist Peter Banks. In addition, Yes drummer Alan White, who played on John Lennon‘s classic 1971 album Imagine, will deliver a special homage to the late Beatles legend.
Asia will pay tribute to its late frontman, John Wetton, throughout the tour. The band’s current lineup shares two members with Yes — keyboardist Geoff Downes and bassist/singer Billy Sherwood — and also features founding drummer Carl Palmer and new guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, formerly of Guns N’ Roses.
Yes guitarist Steve Howe, who also was an original Asia member, will join the group for part of its sets.
Lodge will showcase many of the classic Moody Blues tunes he wrote and sang, and will pay homage to his band’s late flutist/singer, Ray Thomas.
Palmer’s ELP Legacy will offers up a variety of memorable songs by Carl’s old group Emerson, Lake & Palmer, with Brown — frontman for The Crazy World of Arthur Brown — on board to lend vocal support.
