A planning district agency serving 10 counties in northern and central Arkansas is among 40 projects set to receive financial support from the USDA, according to an announcement made Monday.

The projects are geared toward investing in community facilities and infrastructure projects in rural areas.

The USDA reports the White River Planning and Development District, Inc. in Batesville will receive a $350,000 loan. The funding will be used to provide additional financing to build a new, larger office outside of the flood zone.

The new building will allow the organization to further serve the community without having to shut down services in the event of major flooding.

The White River Planning District serves 10 counties, including Fulton, Izard and Stone in North Central Arkansas.

The White River Planning and Development District is a private, non-profit organization recognized by the Arkansas legislature in 1967 to stimulate economic and community growth.
