JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (AP) Authorities in central Arkansas say police shot and killed a man who was reportedly swinging a knife at officers.
Jacksonville Police Chief John Franklin says police tried to use a stun gun on the man before shooting him Sunday. Police have not yet released his name but say he was a white man in his 60s.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that police responded to a home on a report that a man was choking his sister. Police say the man swung a knife at officers and one opened fire, striking him once.
The death was the second-officer involved shooting this year in Jacksonville. Last week, two officers were cleared of wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of a man who was allegedly trying to steal a vehicle from a car dealership.
