A Mountain Home man, 36-year-old Christopher McDaniel, has been arrested and charged in connection with allegedly taking a laptop computer from a car at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home.

According to the probable cause affidavit made available online Tuesday, McDaniel was allegedly identified on video footage entering a vehicle parked in the portico area outside Roller Hall on the campus of ASUMH July 15. The footage reportedly shows McDaniel exit the car with a laptop computer.

The same individual is seen reentering Roller Hall, where a librarian says he asked for a plastic bag to transport his “electronics.” The man is then captured on camera exiting the building and fleeing the campus on foot.

McDaniel was identified as a suspect by his social media account he allegedly left open inside the library and confirmed with the video footage.

He has been charged with a felony count of breaking or entering, as well as a misdemeanor theft of property count for the computer valued at $600.

His bond was set at $5,000.
