A Mountain Home man arrested and charged earlier with allegedly setting up a “chop shop” on the property of his acquaintance has had 24 new felony offenses filed against him.

According to the latest probable cause affidavit filed Thursday, 24-year-old Brian Calvert is alleged to have illegally entered 22 units at two storage facilities and taken items.

Earlier, investigators from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office working a report of stolen items, including a four-wheeler, tools, a safe and a security system, went to a residence along County Road 643 in the Buford area. A man at the residence identified himself as an acquaintance of Calvert’s.

The man reportedly told the investigators Calvert had asked if he could store some items at the Buford area residence. He said Calvert brought piles of items to the property, setting up a “chop shop.”

The man said he had told Calvert to remove the items, but he either cannot or will not do so.

The investigators reported seeing tools scattered around, as well as several four-wheelers and motorcycles in various phases of disrepair and assemblage. Items reported stolen earlier to the BCSO were also identified.

An investigator from the Mountain Home Police Department working the cases involving the storage facilities went to the residence in the Buford area and took photographs of items Calvert allegedly stored there.

Victims from the storage unit break-ins were able to identify some of their missing items from the pictures.

When investigators returned to the Buford area residence to secure the reported stolen items, they were missing.

It is believed Calvert, who had since been arrested in the case investigated by the sheriff’s office, had someone pick up the remaining stolen items.

It was then discovered a unit at one of the storage facilities had not been reported among those having been illegally entered. Instead, the unit had been rented by Calvert.

Armed with a search warrant, Mountain Home investigators entered Calvert’s rented unit, where they allegedly found the items they had been missing when they returned to the Buford area residence.

As the investigation continued, another search warrant was executed at a separate storage facility, where more stolen items were recovered.

Online court records indicate Calvert now has four open cases, with separate charges filed in both Baxter and Fulton counties in connection with other incidents.

Records indicate he is charged in Fulton County with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, following a traffic stop in early May.

In addition, Calvert has a third open case in Baxter County. In that case, he was arrested and charged in connection with the theft of items from a residence in Gamaliel. Click here to read the original story.

Calvert’s bond in his most recent case was set at $25,000.
