
Mountain Home Police have confirmed a 17-year-old male pedestrian was killed Thursday morning in a traffic accident.Police Chief Carry Manuel says 911 was notified of the accident at 10:06.The teen was reportedly crossing U.S. Highway 62 Southwest in the vicinity of Roberts Drive when the accident occurred.
During the attempt to cross the highway, a vehicle struck the teen, and then he was struck by a second vehicle.
Chief Manuel says the accident is still under investigation, with the final report anticipated within the next few days. The pedestrians name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
Superintendent Dr. Jake Long confirmed the teen is a student in the Mountain Home School District. Dr. Long says while the student has been a member of the cross country team, the accident was not school related. He also says a statement is forthcoming from the school district.
