A Baxter County man, 43-year-old Jimmy Lynn Sutterfield of Gassville, has been arrested and charged in connection with attempts to pass fake $100 bills at three Gassville businesses.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Sutterfield allegedly attempted to pass the first fake bill at a Gassville convenience store in mid July. However, the cashier told Sutterfield the bill was not good and refused to accept it. The bill was not seized, and law enforcement was not notified.

Six days later, Sutterfield allegedly passed the same fake $100 bill at a Gassville fast food restaurant. The issue was discovered when the business attempted to deposit the funds in a bank account. For the second time, law enforcement was not notified.

The following day, Sutterfield reportedly passed a second fake $100 bill at another Gassville fast food restaurant. The transaction was reported and a positive identification on the individual allegedly passing the bill.

During the course of the investigation of the third incident, the first events came to light.

The Gassville man was interviewed and told law enforcement he knew nothing about the incidents. But a couple of days later, Sutterfield returned to the Gassville Police Department and said he had been given the fake bills by another individual.

Sutterfield has been charged with two felony counts of forgery and two misdemeanor counts of theft of property. His bond was set at $5,000.
