A new video is out for “I’ll Stand By You,” the previously unreleased Bruce Springsteen song that appears on the soundtrack for the new movie Blinded By the Light.

The video combines the lyrics from the song with clips from the film, which is based on the true story of the impact Springsteen’s music had on a Pakistani Muslim teen in 1980s England.

In 2016, Springsteen told BBC2 that the song is one he wrote for his eldest son, noting, “It was a big ballad that was very uncharacteristic of something I’d sing myself.”

Knowing that Springsteen wrote the song for his son makes lyrics such as “You wake me in the night to your tears falling down, come let me dry them for you/I wish I could tell a story, chase away all those ghosts you’ve got inside of you” even more poignant.

Besides “I’ll Stand by You, the film’s soundtrack features well-known Springsteen tunes like “Dancing in the Dark,” “Badlands,” “Cover Me,” “Prove It All Night,” “Hungry Heart,” “Because the Night,” “Born to Run” and, of course, “Blinded by the Light.”

The soundtrack also includes two previously unreleased live performances: a version of “The River” that Bruce and The E Street Band played in New York City in September 1979, and a solo acoustic rendition of “The Promised Land” that The Boss performed in Washington, D.C., in November 2014.
