A Horseshoe Bend man was killed following a one-vehicle accident Friday afternoon in Salem. According to the Arkansas State Police, 74-year-old James Smith was pronounced dead at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.
Salem Police Chief Gerald Overman says Smith was traveling on Arkansas Highway 395 when he failed to negotiate a curve. His vehicle overcorrected, left the roadway and struck a ditch.
Rain was falling, and the road was wet in the 12:55 p.m. accident.
