The Mountain Home School District is working with local law enforcement after an alleged threat of gun violence allegedly planned for Thursday at an undisclosed school in Arkansas has been posted on social media. Superintendent Dr. Jake Long says the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office and Mountain Home Police Department have been working with other law enforcement agencies and have been in contact with the FBI concerning the threat.
The Arkansas State Police issued a statement Sunday night saying at this time, no corroborating evidence or useful details have been uncovered in regard to the information provided to the FBI.
Long says student safety is of the utmost concern for the school district, and they will continue to work closely with law enforcement in the coming days.
Long shared a link to talking points for parents to use with their children related to school violence prevention from the National Association of School Psychologists. Click here to view the information.
