ABC/Mark LevineIf you were in high school in the eighties, you probably slow-danced to “Drive,” the huge ballad by rock band The Cars. Now, Tim McGraw’s about to introduce it to a whole new generation of fans.

“I love finding cover songs for my albums,” he explains on his socials. “We’ve done [Eddie Rabbitt’s] ‘Suspicions,’ [Elton John’s] ‘Tiny Dancer,’ [and Ryan Adams’] ‘Stars Go Blue.’”

“For the next album,” he continues, “I really wanted to find something cool and unique. ‘Drive’ was one we covered in bars back in the day, and it still reminds me of high school.”

Tim’s version of “Drive” stays pretty true to the original #3 hit, even incorporating some of the tune’s signature synth sounds from the eighties. It’s available to stream or download now.

This is the latest track Tim’s put out from his new record, following his top twenty hits “Neon Church” and “Thought About You.”
