MVD Entertainment GroupIn 1971, an animated special based on the late Harry Nilsson‘s 1970 concept album The Point! premiered on TV. Now, in honor of the project’s 50th anniversary, the first-ever high-def video version of the film will be released on February 11, 2020.

The Point!: Ultimate Edition will be available on Blu-ray and HD Digital. The special features original songs by Nilsson and narration by Ringo Starr, while the main character, Oblio, was voiced by Brady Bunch star Mike Lookinland.

The Point! tells the story of a fictional place called The Land of the Point, where all the people have pointy heads, except for Oblio, who was born round-headed. Banished to the Pointless Forest, Oblio goes on a journey of discovery with his faithful dog Arrow in the quest to find a point.

The Point! TV special’s original narrator was Dustin Hoffman, although his voice-over was replaced by Starr’s when the film was released on DVD.

The Ultimate Edition includes all of the bonus content that appeared in the previous home video release, and also has a variety of new features, like interviews with Lookinland, The Point! screenwriter Norm Lenzer and Nilsson’s son Kiefo, as well as a documentary about Harry’s various film projects and appearances.

Among the songs featured on The Point! album and in the film are “Me and My Arrow,” “Poli High” and “Are You Sleeping?” The album reached #25 on the Billboard 200, while “Me and My Arrow” peaked at #34 on the Hot 100 singles chart.
