Dr. Robin Myers, chancellor of Arkansas State University-Mountain Home (ASUMH), has been named Pacesetter of the Year by the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) for District 4, which includes Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming.

Dr. Myers will be recognized at the council’s annual meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, later this month. The Pacesetter of the Year Award honors a community college chief executive officer who has demonstrated special leadership and support in college communications and marketing.

When Myers was named chancellor of ASUMH in 2012, he was only the second president in the college’s history. The college was positioned as a transfer-degree institution, with limited technical degrees.

Myers was instrumental in the establishment of the ASUMH Technical Center, which now offers automotive services, machining, mechatronics, construction technology and welding.

The center has expanded and includes classes workforce-specific, including a new fiberglass boat-building program in response to local manufacturers Ranger Boats, Bass Cat and Vexus.

In 2017, a partnership with Baxter International allowed for the expansion of the technical facility by 4,500 square feet and more than $1 million for new equipment and resources to expand the workforce.
