A Bull Shoals man who was booked into the Marion County Detention Center twice in August, just five days apart, has received a four-year prison sentence on domestic battery and fleeing charges.

Online court documents indicate 32-year-old Thomas “Tommy” Hutson entered a guilty plea in Marion County Circuit Court Oct. 16 to the felony charges.

Hutson’s prison sentenced will be followed by one year of supervised probation on a felony charge of aggravated robbery and a misdemeanor charge of false imprisonment. He was sentenced to a year in the county jail, with credit being given for 62 days already served, on a misdemeanor charge of interference with emergency communication.

Hutson was originally arrested and charged after he fled from law enforcement officers from Bull Shoals and Lakeview, who had attempted to arrest him on warrants for failure to appear.

According to the probable cause affidavit, during the pursuit, a Bull Shoals officer lost his footing in treacherous terrain, falling on rocks and boulders. In the fall, he sustained several abrasions and cuts to both forearms and knees, as well as injuries to his right ankle and shoulder.

Because of the fall, Hutson was able to escape. The officer received medical attention and was off duty as a result of his injuries.
After being released on fleeing charges, Hutson returned to jail five days later in connection with an incident in which he assaulted his father at the home they shared along Shorecrest Drive.

Paramedics transported Hutson’s father to Baxter Regional Medical Center for treatment of the injuries he sustained in the incident.

The victim said the two had completed yard work and had a few alcoholic beverages.

That evening, the victim noticed Hutson’s puppy had chewed up some VA paperwork, leading the two men to argue.

During the altercation that followed, Hutson allegedly grabbed his father around the throat, while choking him and pinning him to the wall. The two continued to fight. Hutson reportedly broke his father’s cellphone preventing him from calling law enforcement, drug him to the bathroom and locked him inside.

The victim was able to free himself and retrieved his .357 handgun for protection. He attempted to flee the residence, but was attacked again in the driveway, with Hutson taking the firearm and returning inside the residence, allowing the victim to flee.
