A rural Mountain Home woman wielding a machete and a bottle of vodka has been arrested, after allegedly injuring her boyfriend. Forty-four-year-old Dawn Louise Rowland is facing several charges following the incident Saturday evening.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says deputies were dispatched to a residence along State Highway 5 North shortly after 7 for a report of a physical domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies encountered Rowland, who was said to be extremely agitated and carrying a bottle of vodka. The victim was located in front of the residence in a pool of blood and broken glass. He told deputies Rowland attacked him with a knife, which turned out to be a machete. He reportedly suffered serious injuries, including four deep gashes from the machete and other cuts from the broken glass.

While the victim was being tended to by paramedics, Rowland reportedly continued to be argumentative and interfering with the ambulance crew. When deputies tried to arrest her, she resisted and a Taser was deployed.

Rowland is charged with a felony count of domestic battery in the first degree and misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and obstructing governmental operations. Her bond is set at $50,000, and she is scheduled to make her first court appearance Nov. 7.
