An Ozark County teen has qualified to be a part of Team USA in next year’s World Martial Arts Competition. Bakersfield High School sophomore Emmi Tucker will be the junior team captain for the games in London.
According to the Ozark County Times, the 15-year-old Tucker is the Midwest Martial Arts Southern Conference’s (MMASC) current triple crown champion and the top competitor in the girls’ intermediate 15-to-17 age division for forms, sparring, weapons and musical forms. On Aug. 24, she received the Top High School Award at the MMASC Back To School Bash Tournament in Rogersville.
Tucker is a blue belt working toward her black belt, but she has already competed against other black belts.
