An alleged fugitive sex offender from Searcy County is in custody after turning himself in to authorities without incident.

Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell says 21-year-old Dennis Lee Trammell of Marshall has been charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault. The charges stem from allegations involving two female juveniles in Searcy County.

Cassell says in November 2018, his department received a call on the child abuse hotline concerning information about the assault of the two females.

An Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children investigator conducted interviews with the juveniles. During separate interviews, both juveniles disclosed sexual contact with Trammell. Cassell described the statements as appearing “credible and consistent.”

Cassell says during Trammell’s interview with the Searcy County Sheriff’s Department, he stated he had been babysitting the two juvenile females, but denied any sexual contact with them.

Last month, a warrant was issued for Trammell’s arrest. He made his initial appearance in Searcy County District Court last week. His bond is set at $50,000.
