Courtesy of Hollywood Christmas ParadeBret Michaels is among the many artists who will perform at the 2019 Hollywood Christmas Parade this Sunday, and now comes word that the Poison frontman also will receive a very special honor for his charitable work during the holiday event.
Michaels will be presented with the Humanitarian of the Year award at the parade in recognition of his various philanthropic efforts, including a planned trip to the Bahamas and Puerto Rico in December to bring supplies and toys to people effected by recent devastating hurricanes there.
“Michaels’ relentless effort to give back is why we chose to recognize him for this year’s award,” says Sharratt MacEachern, the Hollywood Christmas Parade’s co-executive producer. “He is continuously looking for opportunities to help others, so in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian in September, he knew he needed to do something to help.”
MacEachern adds, “At his own expense, Michaels will take his own plane to drop-off much needed supplies and toys to people of the Bahamas and Puerto Rico…This giving spirit is another example of why the Hollywood Christmas Parade recognized Michaels with the Humanitarian of the Year award.”
During the parade, which begins at 5 p.m. PT this Sunday, Bret will performg two of his best-known songs live. The lineup also includes Dionne Warwick, the holiday supergroup Band of MerryMakers, country singer Phil Vassar and many others.
A two-hour TV special featuring highlights of the 88th annual Hollywood Christmas Parade will air December 13 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on The CW.
On December 14, Michaels will take part in another holiday parade — the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s Winterfest Boat Parade in Hollywood, Florida. Bret will serve as the event’s grand marshal.
