A lengthy, high-speed pursuit between Glencoe toward Baxter County has led to the arrest of 20-year-old Rain Collins. Collins’ address was not available on online documents.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the pursuit on Dec. 15 started when an Arkansas State Police trooper encountered Collins traveling west on U.S. Highway 62\412 exceeding the speed limit. The trooper turned his vehicle around to initiate a traffic stop, but Collin’s truck accelerated its speed. As the pursuit continued, radar clocked Collins’ speed at 100 miles per hour.

Despite losing sight of the fleeing vehicle, the trooper was able to catch up with Collins in a three-lane stretch of the highway. At this point, the trooper was in the outside lane, with Collins in the inside lane.

The pursuit continued, with the vehicles exiting onto Moose Lodge Circle and reentering U.S. Highway 62\412. Both vehicles encountered several others in the oncoming traffic lane, with Collins reportedly operating his truck in such a manner to create a “substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to others on the roadway.”

The pursuit continued onto Squirrel Hill Road, where Collins reportedly tried to brake check the trooper’s vehicle with his truck.

As the pursuit continued onto Deer Bend Trail, Collins’ vehicle left the roadway, entered a ditch and drove through a four-strand barbed wire fence. The truck entered a farm field, continued traveling parallel to the roadway and struck the fence again. It then came to a cross fence, went between two wooden posts and again struck the wire.

Collins’ vehicle then crossed a private drive, before striking and driving through a second cross fence before hitting a phone box cover and reentering the roadway.

After having struck the fence in four different places, the truck was dragging four strands of barbed wire approximately 60 feet behind it.

The trooper then opted to abort the pursuit to avoid damaging his vehicle’s tires by the barbed wire being drug behind Collins’ truck.

The trooper continued driving down Deer Bend Trail looking to see if Collins’ vehicle had wrecked. He discovered the truck had rolled over on its driver’s side in the middle of the roadway.

The trooper exited his vehicle with his rifle drawn, giving commands to the driver, but found the truck empty, with its two male occupants having fled.

A search of the vehicle revealed a .30-.30 rifle, with one round in the chamber and six in the internal magazine.

Online information does not indicate when Collins was taken into custody.

He is charged with felony counts of fleeing and possession of a firearm by certain persons, meaning he is a convicted felon.

His bond was set at $10,000.
