Courtesy of Blackbird PresentsA star-studded two-night tribute to late blues legend B.B. King will take place February 16-17 at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York.
Among the many artists slated to perform at the concerts, dubbed The Thrill Is Gone: A Tribute to B.B. King, are Little Steven Van Zandt, ex-Allman Brothers Band guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, Buddy Guy, Steve Cropper, Southside Johnny, Los Lobos‘ David Hidalgo, Jimmie Vaughan, Robert Cray, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Susan Tedeschi, and Robert Randolph.
The lineups for the two shows will vary, and the specific musicians that will be appearing at each event will be revealed on Tuesday, January 28. Acclaimed drummer and producer Steve Jordan will serve as the concerts’ musical director. More guests will be added to lineup soon.
The events are being co-produced by longtime B.B. King drummer Tony TC Coleman, who also will perform at the shows. “It’s a thrill to be involved in this once-in-a-lifetime event celebrating my good friend B.B. King,” Coleman says. “To get to see these amazing musicians performing hits from the King of Blues is a dream come true.”
Tickets for the concerts will go on sale to the general public this Friday, January 17, at noon ET via Ticketmaster and the Capitol Theatre box office. Special VIP packages also will be available to purchase, while a limited number of single-day tickets will go on sale Friday, January 31, at noon ET.
Part of the proceeds raised will benefit the Seva Foundation, a charity co-founded by Wavy Gravy that focuses on the prevention and treatment of blindness and other visual impairments.
