Credit: Richard KerrisTodd Rundgren has announced plans for a late-spring U.S. tour that will celebrate his critically acclaimed 1973 album A Wizard, A True Star. Dubbed “The Individualist, A True Star” tour, the trek kicks off with a May 1-2 stand in San Francisco and is scheduled through a June 12 concert in Miami.
Each show will feature Rundgren playing either the first or second side of A Wizard, A True Star during the first set and a variety of popular songs from throughout his long career during the second set.
The second set at his upcoming shows was inspired by Todd’s 2019 tour in support of his recent memoir The Individualist, which followed his life and music career through his 50th birthday.
On select nights, Rundgren will let the audience vote on which side of the album he plays. The tally will be counted in real time utilizing an app created by Todd, which concert attendees will be able to download on their mobile devices. A video message with instructions on accessing the app will be played at the venues as concertgoers arrive.
Tickets will go on sale this Friday, January 17, at 10 a.m. local time. Single tickets and multiple-night packages will be available.
Most recently, Rundgren took part in the “It Was Fifty Years Ago Today — A Tribute to The Beatles‘ White Album” tour, which also featured The Monkees‘ Micky Dolenz, Christopher Cross, Badfinger‘s Joey Molland and ex-Chicago singer Jason Scheff. That trek wrapped up in December.
