3 MH junior high teams to play at Douglas MacArthur

Basketball makes up much of the local Thursday schedule, as three of Mountain Home’s junior high teams will be in Jonesboro taking on Douglas MacArthur. The eighth grade boys’ game tips off at 4 p.m. followed by both freshmen contests.

In other junior high action, Cotter hosts Viola, Yellville-Summit travels to Western Grove, and Marshall makes the trip to Heber Springs.

The Izard County Invitational Tournament will continue with games at two locations. At Calico Rock, the action begins at 4 with a junior girls’ game between Salem and Mammoth Spring, the Salem junior boys then play Calico Rock at 5:15 and the Salem senior boys face Izard County at 6:30.
At Izard County, the Izard County junior girls take on Melbourne at 4, Melbourne and Cave City meet for a junior boys’ game at 5:15, at 6:30 it’s the Melbourne high school girls against Cave City, then Melbourne and Cave City high school boys play at 7:15.

Also on the high school level, Mammoth Spring’s boys will compete in the semifinals of the Mountain View-Liberty Invitational Tournament. The Bears will meet Alton at 5:45.

The Mammoth Spring girls will also be across the state line, as they continue play in the Thayer Winter Classic. The Lady Bears will face the host Lady Bobcats at 6 p.m.

Elsewhere, Flippin entertains Omaha, Gainesville’s girls head to Mansfield, the Dora girls are home against Houston, Mountain View travels to Green Forest, and Valley Springs makes the trip to Clinton.
