High school basketball makes up much of the local Friday schedule, as Mountain Home returns to the home floor. The Bombers and Lady Bombers will welcome Nettleton from Jonesboro.
The girls’ game will feature a battle between teams ranked by the Arkansas Sports Media. Mountain Home is tied for fifth in Class 5A. The Lady Bombers are 14-3 on the season and 3-1 in the 5A-East after coming from behind to beat Marion on Tuesday. Nettleton is the top-ranked team in Class 5A and fourth in the state overall. The Lady Raiders are 17-2 and 4-0 are coming off an eight-point win at Paragould.
The Mountain Home boys are 10-7 on the year and 1-3 in the league. The Bombers suffered a 13-point loss at Marion three nights ago. Nettleton is 4-11 and 1-3. The Raiders picked up their first conference win Tuesday at Paragould.
Mike Neighbors is expected to be in attendance to observe one of his commitments for next year. The head women’s basketball coach at the University of Arkansas will be seeing Nettleton guard Elauna Eaton.
The junior varsity boys’ game tips off at 5 p.m. at Bomber Gymnasium. The varsity contests begin around 6 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.
Elsewhere in the 5A-East, Searcy travels to Jonesboro, Paragould hosts West Memphis, and Greene County Tech entertains Marion.

Two local boys’ teams will be in Missouri to continue action in the Mountain View-Liberty Invitational Tournament. Mountain Home Christian Academy meets Winona, and Mammoth Spring faces Alton. Both games are at 4:30 as Liberty will use the high school and middle school gyms.

Three area teams will wrap up the Cabool Classic. Bakersfield’s boys will compete for third place at 4, as they take on Couch in the new gym. The consolation finals will be held in the old gym, as the Bakersfield girls will be paired with Cabool at 4, and Lutie’s boys will play Koshkonong at 5:30.

In other high school action, Cotter hosts Flippin, Yellville-Summit is home against Mammoth Spring for three girls’ games, the Gainesville boys head to Mountain Grove, Salem travels to Bay, Calico Rock hosts Lead Hill, Melbourne makes the trip to Imboden to meet Sloan-Hendrix, Timbo is home against Sacred Heart, Bergman hosts Rose Bud, and Valley Springs heads to Western Grove.
