The victim of Wednesday afternoon’s two-car fatal crash near Timbo in Stone County has been identified.

Seventeen-year-old Briley Dawn Morgan of Fox, a student at Rural Special High School, was killed in the crash, according to reports from WhiteRiverNow.com.

Morgan was a senior and a member of the Lady Rebel softball team, as well as manager of the basketball team, according to the report.

A preliminary fatal crash summary from the Arkansas State Police says Morgan was traveling west on State Highway 66 when her car crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Rufus Lee Werb of Mountain View.

According to White River Now, authorities reported the highway was wet at the time of the accident, which was noted as around 12:30 p.m. Traffic was heavy at the time, and some drivers were rerouted at Timbo, the summary said.

Rural Special schools were closed Friday to host Morgan’s visitation and funeral service.
