Tuesday hoops results include area team claiming 7th straight conference title

There was plenty of high school basketball in the area Tuesday night.

In boys’ action:
-Mountain Home Christian Academy was a 65-26 winner over Eagle Heights. Trenton Cox scored 16 points and Caleb Spray added 13. MHCA lost the 14U boys’ game 38-35. Gabe Spray scored 17.
-Calico Rock edged past Norfork 59-54. The Pirates improve to 7-18 and 5-8 in the 1A-2, while the Panthers fall to 13-13 and 8-7.
-Izard County clinched at least a share of the 1A-2 Conference title by beating Viola 90-63 to improve to 27-5 overall and 14-0 in league play. It’s the seventh straight conference title for the Cougars. Coby Everett led the way with 27 points, Caleb Faulkner scored 22 and Justus Cooper had 20. Viola falls to 22-6 and 12-2.
-Yellville-Summit was a 46-38 winner over Decatur to improve to 13-5 overall and 6-1 in league play.
-Gainesville, in the Sparta Tournament, topped Fordland 76-57.
-Salem fell to Rector 61-45. The Greyhounds are now 7-11 and 2-8 in the 2A-3 Conference.
-Mammoth Spring blew past Crowley’s Ridge Academy 67-33. Clint Lester had a double double with 21 points and 14 rebounds, Zack Flynn scored 20, and Alex Mero finished with 11 points for the Bears, as they improve to 17-10.
-Melbourne picked up an 48-35 win over Riverside.
-Omaha topped Lead Hill 55-49.
-Valley Springs blew out Green Forest 84-43. The Tigers are now 26-3 and 9-1 in the 3A-1 East.
-Western Grove was a 78-44 winner over St. Joe.

In girls’ action:
-Mountain Home Christian Academy edged past Eagle Heights 64-60. Naomi Spray had a double double with 19 points and 12 boards and Caroline Robinson scored 16. MHCA won the 14U game 39-33. Olivia Spray finished with 10 points.
-Cotter whipped Haas Hall Academy Fayetteville 60-17. Kaylee Crownover topped the score sheet with 21 points, and Kate Cheek scored 19 for the Lady Warriors who improve to 14-10 overall and 6-1 in the 2A-1 conference.
-Norfork edged past Calico Rock 45-43 to up its record to 18-8 and 9-4. The Lady Pirates fall to 11-12 and 6-5 in league play.
-Viola downed Izard County 46-23 to improve to 27-2 overall and 12-0 in the 1A-2. The Lady Cougars fall to 13-14 and 5-8. In the junior girls’ game, Izard County won 50-21 to improve to 18-5. Quinn Johnson led the way with 18 points while Katey Pate scored 13.
-Yellville-Summit squeezed past Decatur 50-45. The Lady Panthers are now 8-10 and 3-4 in conference play.
-Bakersfield lost to Thayer 41-26.
-Mammoth Spring blew out Armorel 78-33. Lauren Mitchell erupted for 33 points, Chevelle Graves scored 20, and Terra Godwin had 13 points for the Lady Bears who improve to 18-5.
-Melbourne crushed Bay 57-13.
-Valley Springs easily beat Green Forest 62-21 to move its record to 25-5 and 7-3.
-Lead Hill topped Omaha 39-32.
