Cotter sweeps Decatur, Flippin boys dominate Eureka Springs

Cotter was able to pick up a pair of conference wins over Decatur on Friday.
The Lady Warriors dominated the Lady Bulldogs by a final of 69-43. Kate Cheek was Cotter’s top scorer with 23 points, and Kaylee Crownover ended up with 11.
Cotter was able to beat Decatur 55-50 in the boys’ contest. Dylan Dwyer paced the Warriors with 26 points, and Tucker Coots added 10.

Flippin’s boys breezed through their game on their home floor. The Bobcats invoked the mercy rule, as they destroyed Eureka Springs 60-22.

Yellville-Summit won both of its high school games at home over Haas Hall Academy. The Lady Panthers put the mercy rule in effect, as they dominated the Lady Mastiffs 50-16. The Yellville-Summit boys were able to get past Haas Hall 29-25.

Bruno-Pyatt’s high school teams had a rough night at home, as they were swept by Calico Rock. The Lady Patriots fell to the Lady Pirates 41-26. The Bruno-Pyatt boys did not fare any better, as they lost to Calico Rock 62-36.

The Dora High School girls’ basketball team won its consolation semifinal game Friday in the Lady Lion Invitational Tournament at Mansfield. The Lady Falcons topped Conway 49-41.

Salem ended up with mixed results, as they hosted Buffalo Island Central. The Lady Greyhounds beat up on the Lady Mustangs 53-23. Salem’s boys were not as fortunate, as they fell to BIC 60-53.

Izard County was able to pick up a three-game sweep at Western Grove.
In the senior boys’ game, the Cougars clinched their seventh consecutive conference title and their 79th straight league win over a six-year period, as they beat the Warriors 76-48. Izard County was led by Coby Everett with 23 points, Caleb Faulkner scored 19, Justus Cooper had 14, and Chase Orf chipped in 10. The Cougars improve to 28-5 on the year and 15-0 in the 1A-2, and they can clinch a sixth straight unbeaten conference championship Tuesday against St. Joe.
Izard County also won the senior girls’ contest over Western Grove 48-40. Allison Newman was the Lady Cougars’ leading scorer with 17 points, Cassidy Coleman finished with 12, and Emily Jackson ended up with 10.
The evening began with the junior boys’ game, as Izard County topped Western Grove 37-18. Noah Stevenson led the Junior Cougars with 12 points.

St. Joe’s boys were able to grab a victory on the road. The Wildcats edged out Oark 59-58.

Marshall came away with a split, as they hosted Valley Springs. The Lady Bobcats squeaked by the Lady Tigers 53-50. It was a different result in the boys’ contest, as Marshall fell to Valley Springs 84-43.

Timbo ended up getting swept at home by Mount Vernon-Enola. The Tigers fell to the Warhawks 72-46 in the boys’ game. The night wasn’t any better for Timbo’s girls, as they lost to Mount Vernon-Enola 72-30.

Rural Special finished the week by losing both of its games at Shirley. The Lady Rebels fell to the Lady Blue Devils 60-53. Rural Special’s boys later lost to Shirley 56-48.

Lead Hill went on the road and was able to sweep Deer. The Lady Tigers were dominant with an 80-59 win over the Lady Antlers. Lead Hill’s boys later wrapped up the night with a 62-51 victory over Deer.

Bergman left Clinton with mixed results. The Lady Panthers got past the Lady Yellowjackets 48-45. Bergman had a different outcome in the boys’ game, as they fell to Clinton 62-57.
