
High school basketball makes up the local Friday schedule, as the second half of conference play begins for Mountain Home. The Bombers and Lady Bombers will continue their three-game home stand, as they welcome Jonesboro to the Twin Lakes Area.
The girls’ game will pit the two teams tied for third place in the 5A-East. Mountain Home, tied for fifth in Class 5A in the Arkansas Sports Media’s latest rankings, is 16-4 on the season and 5-2 in the league after falling last week to West Memphis. Jonesboro is 11-8 and 5-2, as they come off a four-point win over Marion. The Lady Bombers began conference play Jan. 10 by falling to the Lady Hurricane 39-30.
The Mountain Home boys are 11-9 overall and 2-5 in the conference after suffering a four-point loss to West Memphis last Friday. Jonesboro is ranked fourth in Class 5A by the Arkansas Sports Media, and they eeked out a one-point overtime win over Marion to improve to 13-6 and 6-1. The Bombers lost to the Golden Hurricane 50-31 nearly a month ago.
The girls’ game tips off at 6 p.m. followed by the boys’ contest. Both games can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.
Elsewhere in the 5A-East, Searcy travels to Paragould, Nettleton makes the trip to the other side of Paragould to face Greene County Tech, and Marion heads to West Memphis.
In other high school action, Mountain Home Christian Academy hosts Ozarks Christian Academy for two boys’ games on homecoming night, Cotter entertains Eureka Springs, Norfork is home against Bakersfield, Flippin travels to Decatur, Yellville-Summit hosts Lead Hill, Bruno-Pyatt makes the trip to Scranton, Gainesville’s boys entertain Norwood, the Dora boys head to Hartville in a rematch of state-ranked teams, Salem is home against Melbourne for three boys’ games, Mammoth Spring travels to KIPP Blytheville Collegiate, St. Joe makes the trip to Timbo, Marshall hosts Bergman, Mountain View entertains Rose Bud for Senior Night, Rural Special is home against Mount Vernon-Enola, Valley Springs hosts Jasper, and Omaha entertains Western Grove.
