MHHS basketball teams to host Marion Tuesday

High school basketball makes up the local Tuesday schedule, as Mountain Home will be back on the home floor. The Bombers and Lady Bombers are set to take on Marion.
Mountain Home’s girls are 18-5 on the season and 7-3 in the 5A-East after suffering a 10-point loss Friday at Paragould. Marion is 10-15 and 3-7, as they come off a five-point defeat at the hands of Searcy. The Lady Bombers won the first matchup over the Lady Patriots in come-from-behind fashion on Jan. 21 by a final of 43-40.
The Mountain Home boys are 13-10 overall and 4-6 in the league after beating Paragould by 16 on Friday. Marion is 11-11 and 7-3 after beating up on Searcy. The Bombers lost to the Patriots 61-48 nearly a month ago.
The junior varsity girls’ game tips off at 4:45 followed by the J.V. boys’ contest. The varsity games will begin around 6 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.
Also in the 5A-East, Searcy travels to Paragould to face Greene County Tech, Jonesboro hosts West Memphis, and Nettleton entertains Paragould.

Elsewhere, three local schools will send their teams to Decatur for the semifinals of the 2A-1 District Tournament. On the girls’ side, Flippin tips off at 3:30 against Eureka Springs, and top-seeded Cotter plays Yellville-Summit at 6:30. On the boys’ bracket, Yellville-Summit will be paired with the winner of Monday’s game between Decatur and Haas Hall Academy 5, and Cotter faces top-seeded Flippin at 8.

The 1A-2 District Tournament will continue at Omaha. In the girls’ games, Izard County takes on Western Grove at 4 p.m., and Calico Rock plays Lead Hill at 6:40. In boys’ action, Lead Hill will be matched up with Western Grove at 5:20, and Norfork faces Omaha at 8.

Salem’s girls will play their first game in the 2A-3 District Tournament on their home floor. It will be a battle between Lady Greyhounds, as Salem takes on Sloan-Hendrix at 4:30.

The 3A-1 East District Tournament will wrap up its opening round at Bergman. The girls’ game between Valley Springs and Clinton tips off at 4:30. On the boys’ side, Bergman plays Rose Bud at 6, and Marshall will go up against Mountain View at 7:30.

The Rural Special girls will return to Sacred Heart Catholic School in Morrilton for their second game in the 1A-5 District Tournament. The Lady Rebels will face Wonderview at 4:30.

Harrison’s boys will be back in Prairie Grove for their next game in the 4A-1 District Tournament. The Goblins take on the host Tigers at 4:30.

The Jasper boys will play their first game in the 1A-1 District Tournament at Kingston. The Pirates will be paired with the Northwest Arkansas Classical Academy at 5 p.m.

In other high school action, Bakersfield’s girls host Dora, the Bakersfield boys travel to Winona, and Gainesville’s boys make the trip to Hartville.
