MH girls to face Watson Chapel in state quarterfinals

There is high school basketball scheduled for Thursday, as Mountain Home’s girls will be back in Russellville for the Class 5A State Tournament. The Lady Bombers will be paired with Watson Chapel in the quarterfinals.
Mountain Home is 22-6 on the season after winning its tournament opener over Vilonia on Tuesday. Watson Chapel has a record of 19-9, as they come off a six-point victory over Hot Springs on Wednesday.
This will be the second meeting between the Lady Bombers and the Lady Wildcats this season. Mountain Home squeaked by Watson Chapel 46-45 on Dec. 27 in the semifinals of the First Arkansas Bail Bonds Tournament at Bomber Gymnasium.
Tip-off at Cyclone Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

Elsewhere, two area teams will be in action in the Class 1A State Tournament at Lake Hamilton High School in Pearcy. The Jasper boys will have the last opening round game, as they meet Kirby at 5:30, and Norfork’s girls will compete in the first quarterfinal against Kirby at 7.

The Melbourne girls will return to Quitman for their quarterfinal game in the Class 2A State Tournament. The Lady Bearkatz will face Bigelow at 7 p.m.

Mountain View’s girls will be back in Charleston to take part in the quarterfinals of the Class 3A State Tournament. The Lady Yellowjackets will take on Hoxie at 7.
