Senior Age, the organization operating more than 40 senior centers in central and southern Missouri, advised Friday it will be closing its facilities and administrative offices for the remainder of the month beginning Monday due to coronavirus concerns. In a news release, the agency says the decision is made out of respect for public concerns and protection of both the seniors and the centers’ staffs.
The group of senior centers includes the Ozark County Senior Center in Gainesville.
Seniors receiving home-delivered meals can still receive them with volunteers willing to make the delivery. Safety precautions will be in place. Also beginning Monday, those who generally dine at the senior centers may use drive-thru services to receive a meal.
For more specifics, seniors are encouraged to call their local senior center for assistance. The number for the Ozark County Senior Center is 417-679-4746.
A complete list of all impacted senior centers is available here.
All wellness programs, presentations and tax counseling clinics are also on hold.
