Jerry Garcia Family LLCThe 13th installment of an ongoing series of archival concert albums from the Jerry Garcia Band will be released on Friday, April 24. GarciaLive Volume Thirteen: September 16th, 1989 Poplar Creek Music Theatre features a previously unreleased performance the late Grateful Dead frontman’s side group gave outside of Chicago that featured a guest appearance by late E Street Band sax player Clarence Clemons.
The show was the final concert of the Garcia Band’s 1989 latter-summer tour leg, during which Clemons played several dates with the group.
The Poplar Creek Music Theatre show featured renditions of two original Garcia tunes — “Cats Under the Stars” and “They Love Each Other” — as well as covers of Chuck Berry‘s “Let It Rock,” The Beatles‘ “Dear Prudence,” The Rolling Stones‘ “Let’s Spend the Night Together,” Marvin Gaye‘s “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You),” The Band‘s “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” and Bob Dylan‘s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,” “I Shall Be Released” and “Tangled Up in Blue.”
You can check out the performance of “They Love Each Other” now at the official Jerry Garcia YouTube channel, and the track also is available for purchase now digitally and via streaming services.
GarciaLive Volume Thirteen will be released as a two-CD set and a digital download. Special bundles that come with a t-shirt and/or a poster can be pre-ordered at GarciaFamilyProvisions.com.
